-FreeWelcome to Surrey Stage Crew! We are a volunteer organisation that provides backstage support for a huge variety of events both on and off the Uni campus.
From club nights and live streams to musical theatre productions, festivals, and society events, we help bring events to life through sound, lighting, staging, video, and production. We've had the opportunity to work with fantastic artists including Sigma, Chase & Status, DJ Fresh, Pendulum, and The Hoosiers, as well as collaborating with societies such as MTSoc, StagTV, and many more.
No previous experience is needed to join our society, we provide training for everyone. We cover everything from basic sound and lighting to working at height, rigging, and practical skills you'll learn while working on gigs.
Throughout the year we organise a range of social events, including BBQs, formal dinners, pub crawls and trips to industry trade shows, giving members plenty of oppourtunity to get to know each other outside of our events.
Our weekly meetings take place every Monday at 18:00. We usually meet in the Students' Union Committee Room (next to the SU Reception) or in Hari's Bar, so keep an eye on our Instagram, Teams and group chats for any last-minute venue or time changes. This is where we get to share updates from the Students' Union and Committee, discuss recent and upcoming gigs, organise crew availability, provide updates on training, socials, and technical projects and give everyone the opportunity to raise any ideas or ask questions.

Aims
We aim to provide people with the necessary skills, training and equipment to get them into the live events industry. We are a fantastic group of people that help and make all the live events around Surrey possible. We provide lighting, sound, staging, video and rigging for many campus wide events like Surrey Decides, Strictly Come Surrey and MMA. We also work with other society's such as StagTV and Musical Theatre Society, as well as operating Surrey's night club Rubix! By becoming a part of StageCrew we aim to provide a hands-on learning environment for anyone interested in behind-the-scenes work regardless of course or prior experience.
Existence
StageCrew are the backbone of all the events run in and around campus. We are responsible for the setup, operation, and dismantling of all technical elements like lighting, sound, video and many more elements. We ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, working closely with the union to put on live events. Crew is a place that excepts everyone and is a safe place where everyone there wants to share their passion and love for lighting, sound video and rigging. But most importantly a shared love for acceptance within a community.
