To offer social and volunteering opportunities for those involved in Scouting and Guiding - giving them the opportunity to continue Guiding/Scouting as a student at Surrey, and offering a taster for those who are new to Scouting/Guiding to find out how they can get involved.
The Student Scout and Guide Organisation (SSAGO) is a non-uniformed organisation that enables students to continue or begin their Scouting or Guiding journey whilst at College or University. They have clubs at over 37 colleges and universities across the UK - but there is not a SSAGO at Surrey. Starting a SSAGO would allow people to continue Scouting/Guiding despite moving away from their home units, and it would introduce others to Guiding/Scouting. A Surrey SSAGO would benefit the local community too, and would allow local Girlguiding and Scouting units to recruit new volunteers. Many prospective students involved in Scouting and Guiding look to see if the unis they apply to have a SSAGO - as they offer a sense of community, and an opportunity to meet like-minded people involved in Scouting and Guiding!
